Short profile
I received a PhD in Economics and Finance from the University of Manchester (UK) and a PhD in Economics from the University of Naples Parthenope. Since 2012 I am a Full Professor of Economics at the University of Naples Parthenope. From June 2015 to May 2019 I was the Director of the Institute for Studies on Mediterranean Societies which sSSM which, following his project presented to the CNR, has become part of the current ISMed.
My research interests cover different issues in the areas of Development Economics, Economic Growth and on Monetary and Financial Economics. In recent years I have focused my attention on the study of the relationships between the underground economy and financial development and between corruption and economic growth. I have been “visiting professor” at numerous universities, including the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (USA), the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and the University of Manchester (UK).
I have coordinated several research groups in national and international projects including several Horizon projects. I have contributed to the organisation of numerous conferences and workshops.
I have a long teaching experience in Macroeconomics, Economic Growth, Economic Policy, Monetary Economics Public Economics both at graduate and undergraduate level. Apart form the University of Naples Parthenope, were I am based, I have been teaching at the University of Santiago de Compostela, University of Manchester, University of Liverpool, University of Wisconsin, among others.
